When it's time for your evaluation, you'll meet Dr. Barnes over video using a HIPAA-compliant platform. A calendar invite with a link will be emailed to you in advance, allowing you to access your virtual session. To ensure a smooth evaluation, please make sure you have a computer or iPad/tablet ready.

The evaluation starts with an initial interview lasting about an hour, where we collect relevant background information to better understand the specific concerns or areas of difficulty.

Next, a battery of standardized tests is administered to measure the individual’s intellectual functioning, attention, language skills, memory, visuospatial abilities, executive functioning, and academic performance. Some evaluations can be completed in a single session, while others require multiple appointments (1 to 3 visits). Testing

Testing can take anywhere from 3 hours for a brief screening, up to 5 hours for a more comprehensive assessment.

During this session, Dr. Barnes will provide you and your loved one with a diagnosis, recommendations, tools to utilize at home, and referrals to other doctors as needed. Dr. Barnes will compose a report summarizing the findings, which will be sent to you and your referring provider.
